Just when we thought it might be safe to say Lauryn Hill was making a comeback after performing at the Hot97 Summer Jam, she's moving into the big house instead of the billboards. The Grammy award winning Rapper/Singer pled guilty to three counts of intentional tax evasion for the years 05-07. Lauryn deferred filing taxes despite an income of more than $1.8 million primarily from film
and recording royalties. Hill posted $150,000 and was released. She will be sentence in a New Jersey Federal Court sometime in Novemember. In addition to a possible 3 years in federal prison, she will also be slapped with fines up to $75,000. Hill responded to the charges earlier this month in a lengthy statement, saying she had chosen to "defer" payments during a period of withdrawal from society to protect her family's safety.
Now seriously, everyone knows Lauryn Hill is a nut case. Things just have never been right since her rise to fame. She claims she was protecting her family by not paying taes, but behind bars she really wont be able to do anything for them. I dont see how she hasn't had an album out in forever but with all the money she was making there was no reason she could not have paid her taxes. Hey Lauryn, now will be the perfect time to kind of lower your standards and work on some music because right now, its not looking to good for you.
